P52 - Week Seventeen: Fiesta or Siesta

project 52 p52 weekly photo challenge my3boybarians.com

{This week's linkup can be found here: http://my3boybarians.com/2012/05/p52-week-18-fiesta-or-siesta/}

Since I haven't felt too much like holding a fiesta lately, I decided to opt for siesta as my prompt this week.  And who better to showcase his siesta talents than the King of Naps around our household:

Hogging his favorite seat in the house, the oversized recliner
What, did you think I was going to post a picture of Mr. L or something?  =)

{This week's linkup can be found here: http://my3boybarians.com/2012/04/p52-week-17-green/}

I absolutely love how green meets blue in the beautiful landscapes along the Ka'ena Point State Park trail.

P52 - Week Sixteen: Things that Grow

project 52 p52 weekly photo challenge my3boybarians.com

{This week's linkup can be found here: http://my3boybarians.com/2012/04/p52-week-16-things-that-grow/}

This past weekend, Mr. L and I enjoyed a beautiful hike (well, more like a walk!) at Ka'ena Point State Park.  I loved seeing the random little flowers with such a gorgeous view of the tidepools and the ocean as their backdrop.

With Mr. L's deployment literally right around the corner, this week's theme really hits home.  Here's hoping the time he's gone flies by.

P52 - Week Fourteen: Foolin' Around

{This week's linkup can be found here:  http://my3boybarians.com/2012/04/p52-week-14-foolin-around/}

It's a bit of an old picture (almost a couple of months now), but I think it captures how Mr. L and his best friend are together perfectly -- giant goofballs.  (It's been another "I'm just glad to be getting this post up at all" kind of week.  Next week probably will be too =\ )

{This week's linkup can be found here:  http://my3boybarians.com/2012/03/p52-week-12-hunger/}

I apologize for being so far behind with this post, yikes!  Better late than never though =)

Like everyone else who hadn't been living under a rock, the hubby and I went to see The Hunger Games this past weekend.  We loved it so much that we actually saw it again last night too, haha.  Definitely worth watching, and the books are worth reading, too!

{This week's linkup can be found here:  http://my3boybarians.com/2012/03/p52-week-11-the-eyes-of-march/}

For this week's prompt I decided to use the hubby as a model once again =)

I adore the color of his eyes.  So beautiful!  And of course I couldn't resist these little Schnauzer eyes either.

P52 - Week Ten: Be Still

project 52 p52 weekly photo challenge my3boybarians.com

{This week's linkup can be found here:   http://my3boybarians.com/2012/03/p52-week-10-be-still/}

Yesterday afternoon I took a half hour to myself and went to a beach about five or ten minutes from my house to just experienced the beauty of the landscape.  The water here is super calm all of the time, so it has a bit of a soothing effect on me, which is why I really like just being still here.

Where do you go to calm yourself and rejuvenate?

P52 - Week Nine: A Great Leap

{This week's linkup can be found here:  http://my3boybarians.com/2012/03/p52-week-9-a-great-leap/}

For today's prompt I'm going to go with another Hawaii-inspired post =)

Sunrise at Lanikai Beach

The greatest leap I've taken in the past six months is easily our move to Oahu.  So far, it's honestly been amazing, and it makes me so excited for all of the future activities we're going to do, friends we're going to make memories we're going to cherish for the rest of our lives.  Hopefully this move will also inspire me to take leaps in other areas of my life!  =)

What great leaps have you taken lately?

P52 - Week Eight: Cabin Fever

project 52 p52 weekly photo challenge my3boybarians.com

{This week's linkup can be found here:  http://my3boybarians.com/2012/02/p52-week-8-cabin-fever/}

Sorry for the posting delays I've had over the past few days!  Entertaining a houseguest has been a lot of fun, but it didn't leave a lot of time for posting.  So to get back into the swing of things, here's the P52 post I missed putting up on Friday!

As you've probably deduced from reading this blog, I now live on an island with a tropical climate.  You just don't get "cabin fever" when you live somewhere that doesn't ever get cold (or for that matter, where it doesn't really get "hot", at least like we're used to back in Alabama).  But with the elimination of one "con" comes the presence of another.

Oahu is not only an island; it's small (it can be entirely driven around in like 3-4 hours).  You see that beautiful blue ocean in the picture (taken from the top of Diamond Head Crater)?  It just keeps going.  And going.  And going.  If that image doesn't evoke thoughts of island fever, I don't know what will!

Every person we've spoken to in regards to our move to Oahu have warned us against the potential of island fever, something I've yet to experience since I've always lived on the U.S. mainland.  So far, we've been having a blast exploring all of the beautiful things Oahu has to offer, so we are feeling absolutely zero island fever.  Hopefully we never will...but three years is a long time.  So what's our strategy?  We're taking things slowly.  There really is a lot to do and see on this gorgeous piece of Earth, and we are taking our time with seeing everything.  I feel we're going at a good pace, and we'll have plenty left to do a year or maybe even two years from now.  I guess we'll see how our plan ends up working.

Are you experiencing any cabin fever so far this winter?  (Ha, winter!  I've already forgotten what that is...)

P52 - Week 7: True Love

project 52 p52 weekly photo challenge my3boybarians.com

{This week's linkup can be found here:  http://my3boybarians.com/2012/02/p52-week-7-true-love/}

I'm going to cheat a little bit and use a picture from a little practice photo session I did with a couple of friends of ours here in Hawaii instead of a picture I took this week.  I may have only known them for a short time, but even someone who spent only five seconds with them could see the pure joy and love they have for one another.  It's a beautiful thing to capture love in a picture, and personally it's something I find fulfilling and inspiring.  Thank you to Mr. and Mrs. P for letting me be your personal paparazzi for a couple hours =)

{This week's linkup can be found here:   http://my3boybarians.com/2012/02/p52-week-6-drink-up/ }

There's not many things out there better than a glass of sweet tea in the perfect weather on your lanai with views of Hawaiian mountains in your background.  Except maybe a photobombing Schnauzer.

P52 - Week Four: Self-Portrait

project 52 p52 weekly photo challenge my3boybarians.com

{This week's linkup can be found here:  http://my3boybarians.com/2012/01/p52-week-4-self-portrait/}

For this picture the hubs and I were playing around with the camera at this beautiful beach on Hickam AFB, and he insisted on getting a silhouette shot with the sun behind my head.  I think it turned out pretty cool!  (And yep, you caught me -- it's not a true "self-portrait" since he took the pictures, but it's good enough for me!)

And just to be on the safe side (and so no one accuses me of not really doing the challenge, haha), here's another one he snapped which I also think looks nice.  I mean, my hair's a mess and I have no makeup on (c'mon, it was the beach!) but I think my big smile really showcases how happy Mr. L makes me, especially when we're goofing off with each other.  With impending deployments looming around the corner, it's good to cherish these little moments of happiness with each other to give ourselves something to hold on to (and look forward to having again) in the coming months.
