Mr. and Mrs. Landrum in Europe: It’s Time to Cruise!

May 23rd, 2010 (continued)

After arriving in Barcelona, crashing for the night, and checking out of our hotel the next morning, Mr. L and I sent for a taxi to take us to Barcelona’s port.  Why, you ask?  Because it was time to start our seven day Mediterranean cruise!

Mr. L waiting patiently in the lobby of our hotel for the taxi
We entered our taxi after loading up all of our suitcases and once again sped through Barcelona.  As we crossed the bridge into the port, we could see our cruise ship out of the taxi window:

Our ship is the first one, NCL's Norwegian Jade -- sorry that part of the bridge is in the way!
After a smooth embarkation process, we waited in the ship’s main lobby before we were able to see our cabin and unpack.  After an hour or so, we made our way to Cabin 8583, our home for the next seven days!

The cabin was surprisingly spacious – we never felt cramped in the room at all during the whole stay.  It was perfect for the two of us.

Finally on our cruise!
After checking out our digs, we headed up to the decks to walk around and check out Barcelona as we left port and officially started our journey.

Mr. L promptly took advantage of them!
Our ship blew the horn and officially started making its way out of port to Monaco, Monte Carlo, which was the first port of call on our itinerary.  We watched as the other cruise ships were slowly left behind, and we pulled out into the gorgeous Mediterranean.

Bye, other cruise ship!
See you in seven days!  :)
Gorgeous blue water of the Mediterranean
We spent the rest of the day running around the cruise ship and scoping out all of the fun areas.  We tired ourselves out pretty well, and we went to bed super excited about getting to go on our very first shore excursion to Menton, France and Eze Village, France the next day!

  1. [...] on the morning of May 24th, mainly because we didn’t know what to expect in the hours ahead.  We’d boarded a cruise ship for the first time ever the day before, and now we were pulling into our very first port ever!  Well, Mr. L’s first “cruise ship” [...]
